Raised in the small-town of Winchester, TN, one of the now six-foot-four-inch Lee Gibson’s favorite every nighttime activity as a child was to be in front of the TV or radio listening to such timeless artists as Charlie Daniels, Merle & Jones. He wanted some of their grit & real-life mischief to rub off on him. From that early age Lee has been singing ever since – musicals, plays, church choir, acoustic shows & eventually with his band. Maybe some of that did rub off on him since so many of his songs mirror those of his icons; love lost and found, pleasure and pains from the past and the present, and of course, a good drinkin’ song or two. These are all things to which most people can relate whether we admit it or not.
His voice, even though it’s bona fide country, is powerful and clear. He’s been compared to the likes of Dwight Yoakam & Ronnie Dunn by industry & fans alike. That is no small feat. Influenced greatly by all of these artists in one way or another, he pursued writing with top Nashville songwriters & eventually landed his first record deal in 2001. Since then he has grown into opening shows for such greats such as Randy Houser, Anthony Smith, Darryl Worley, T. Graham Brown & even the late George Jones.
With the impending release of his sophomore CD you can hear an amalgamation of all of his influences, yet there is still uniqueness about his songwriting and his sound. There is a familiarity and newness in every song on this CD. There is love and heartbreak. There is happiness and despair. There is the jovial and the serious. When you hear the songs you are hooked. When you come to a Lee Gibson show you get to experience all of this in one sitting – though you won’t be sitting long.Six-foot-four-inch, long-haired, Country-singing son-of-a-gun Lee Gibson brings it every time he takes the stage. His songs speak of love lost & found, pleasures & pains from the past & the present, and the ups & downs of growing up in a small town – things to which many of us can relate. He has shared the stage with greats such as George Jones, T. Graham Brown, & Darryl Worley.
Lee is excited about the upcoming months, with the release of his long anticipated second CD in mid-October, and recently signing on to be a part of the An American Legacy Tour, Starring Ronnie McDowell, it is shaping up to be a monumental year for Lee Gibson. Stay tuned as more news develops. Catch a show and prepare to be entertained by some great music!
